I called they said they will need to cancel and rebook. If they rebook now, the rate triples... Any other way around it?
One option is to keep the original booking, and when it's time to check in you give them a call saying that you're flight has been delayed, now only arriving tomorrow, but please check me in already and don't treat this as a no-show. Can also follow up by email so that you have written proof.

Another option if you have any friends in Jerusalem is to mark one of them as second guest in the booking and have them do the check in.

Just make sure they're on a tourist visa or you will pay VAT.

BTW I saw somewhere that the current govt budget was going to cancel these exemptions...

It was supposed to get cancelled.
Then they cancelled the cancellation, i.e. tourists continue to get the exemption.
There might have been a third iteration  ::)
The whole concept of VAT exemption makes no sense to me. I'm not familiar with any country where locals pay VAT on hôtels but tourists don't

I don't know about hotels, but many countries have exemptions on VAT by tourists if the items are taken out of the country and are worth more than a certain amount, either individually or aggregated.

You'll have a hard time getting the airline to allow the hotel as a carry on.

It's for the same purpose. To encourage tourism and to encourage tourists to purchase items.

When booking a King room with a certificate do they easily change it to 2 twin (Diamond member if that makes a difference?) What about upgrades?
What about check-in and Check out? Do they let early check-in/late check out?

Tons of availability if search 4+ days at a time if anything less they block it.
Point is they don't want people coming on certs as they lose money from them.

Everything I'd based on availability, if a twin room is available they can switch as for check in/out depends if room is ready or needed

Anybody know if all King beds at WAJ are really two small beds put next to each other with king bedding?
I was told that few years ago and when I stayed there they actually separated the beds to make two 9I saw them do this).
Is that standard or only for some rooms?

When I was living in Israel they used to market this as מטות מהדרין so I guess we can call something at WAJ מהדרין :P
