They don't like people coming on certs that's why it's blocked till right before or if they see a lot of availability.
That's why sometimes when you search more than 3+ days inventory will open as they assume no one has that many certs to come on.
For most part hotel is 70%+ full since covid  (even dead times like winter this past year )so why should they lose by having someone come on cert if they can make $500+ for a basic Room

You think WA MLE likes people coming on certs vs charging $2000. And yet they comply

What do you want me to tell you, if people were coming everyday taking up all the rooms to be sold to someone else they may also do same thing.
I know for a fact that waj does this for that reason tons of certs w/ additional users on them being sold.
Also some places will take the hit knowing people will spend wtvr on the hotel and services etc. Waj doesn't have that except on shabbos where people will spend on meals and invite others etc.

Hilton tlv generally won't allow people to come on points and give benefits (free breakfast lounge etc) if ah isn't checking in

It's against Hilton's policies IINM
Hilton allows you to designate someone else that will check in. At other Hilton you can also share your digital key with 4 other people etc

Could be they allow check in (Hilton tlv does) but Hilton's rules state that they don't have to honor any benefits or award points etc if ah isn't there

Also there are a number of agents  who book up rooms to re sell and when they can't they cancel which is why inventory sometimes goes back in few days out. Way to check is if you search 3+ days and basic room comes up then it's hotel blocking if doesn't means the rooms are booked at least for time being. Also some rooms after being upgraded go back into inventory and they do that a day or 2 out so that could also be why same day it opens up

I live in Jerusalem and used to do tons of cash bookings back when had Citi prestige 4th night that they booked directly with hotel so got points and stuff and there was a public Waldorf 25% off code so between the 2 got about 40% off 4 night bookings for people.
I have spoken to managers there about lack of inventory and they blamed it on agents and when I showed them that if search 3+ nights many times it comes up they said they would look into it but don't think they care too much and will take their chance till Hilton calls them out on it as they make more by keeping points people out

Are there are other DP's?  I know in Israel they are much more makpid on this than in the US.  IME the Setai in the North assessed an extra approx $450-500 for bringing in 3 kids!

But maybe WA is not makpid?
