Oh ok great. I have that card! So does anyone with that card get a upgrade to suite if they have availability?
they told me that the reason they upgraded me was because i was gold and it was the first time staying there. fwiw

i found it strange though since the hotel was fully booked. no rooms were for sale from 5 days before up until shabbos started

They are quite nice, also received upgrade

Them being full is a good reason to upgrade. They oversell the regular rooms and then upgrade gold members to suites. Like airlines. They rather have the hotel full, even if it means upgrading rooms to suites or economy pax to business

Is it really that hard to understand. They will upgrade a gold member over someone with no status. But being gold does not necessarily mean you will be upgraded
Life isn't about checking the boxes. Nobody cares.

Could be they oversold Reg rooms by the amount of suites so if they sold anything else at all they would not have enough rooms for everyone.

Israel with miles is very hard. Other than the Sheraton Tel Aviv (SPG) & sometimes the Waldorf in the summer (Hilton points, alot)  its just not worth it using miles. There is also the new Ritz Carlton Hertzeliya bookable with Marriott points but all redemptions practically suck except the Sheraton Tel Aviv

HI in Ashkelon is a great value if you want to go there.
Carlson in TLV w/ second night free is also a very good value.

Holiday Inn.
10k per night, right off the beach, quiet part of town.
Nothing fancy, but good value in Israel.
