Is there just plain OU meat in the US?
Truth is I'd eat at an OU restaurant in the US without finding out what meat they use.

And the OU claims that they have the same standards in israel.

Jeez, I think 75% of this thread could go into the Kashrus thread, and it would be much cleaner.

If you trust them in America why wouldn't you trust them in Israel?
A rumor because you heard from someone doesn't change anything unless it can be verified.

Probably because everything in israel is overly politicized which makes it hard to differentiate the actual issues from the politics.
And leaves americans utterly clueless about what their standards should be when visiting.

https://oukosher.org/faqs/ou-israel/

I've spoken to various people who work in the OU in different departments and gotten different answers.

Personally I eat OU in Israel.
Many don't.
At the end of the day you can't really know.
Like I've shared in the past at the end of the day all you really know is that you paid for kosher.

I've asked my LOR about which hechsherim to eat and what not. And then at the end asked straight out if I'm eating Rabbanut am I eating kosher? And the answer is yes.
The rest is all depending on chumros and trust of an establishment and it's workers.
In Israel I've seen places with Rabbanut hechsher been more careful and on top of things than places with the top accepted mehadrin hechsherim.
There is no black and white answer. You do what research you feel necessary and "pay for kosher" .
Anyone eating food outside of their own house can't really be sure.

So they think it's trief?  Anyways I'm not saying to eat it. Was just trying to make a point.

Why would you think that fruits and vegetables from Israel don't make their way to the US?

Fakert, I can make the argument that in the US they need to be more knowledgeable, wary, and on the lookout for Israeli produce. Especially since store owners have less knowledge of the Halachos involved.

+1. And I am talking about the non mehadrin one. There are so many Shailes especially with meat even a good Hechsher has to be soo careful with meat. Never mind rabbanut who has no standards...

I dont think there is. Personally I verified with Le Marais that they use mealmart.

Why would you think that fruits and vegetables from Israel don't make their way to the US?
Then you get into ביטול ברוב, but if a store exclusively sells fruit imported from Israel you may have a problem.

Make no mistake, he wasn't telling me to eat it. I just asked if I was eating kosher or not if I did eat it. This was after getting a rundown of which hechsherim I should or shouldn't eat.

Meanwhile you still may hold by your statement but that only helps my point... No black and white.
