Or simply uninformed
I'll open up this can of worms. Can someone specifically tell me which leniencies a Rabbanut hashgacha takes? For purposes of this discussion let's take Sheviis off the table and assume we're talking about the Jerusalem Rabbanut.

I've always found the topic of Kosher certification to be one of the scariest and worst discussions had in the Orthodox community. And I'm probably not talking scary in the same way you're thinking. I'm referring to scary in the way rumors are started and spread without people actually understanding the specific problems/issues at hand. You end up with the general consensus that a certain hashgacha isn't good and in some cases it's because of some issue completely unrelated to Kashruth.

Unless one (or one's Rov) is an expert in Kashrus AND has visited the Rabbanut slaughterhouses it is impossible or simply ignorant to say that Rabbanut meat is 100% treif.

+1M Anyone who has ever seen any of the Rabanut Smicha tests will know that the Rabanim behind all the Heterim are of the highest caliber Talmidei Chachamim and are probably of the greatest in the world. I am not saying that they themselves would eat it, but Treif??? Definitely not.
I personally spoke with Rabbi Kuber. He told me that after going through the entire kitchen from top to bottom, there are certain shortcomings, therefore unfortunately he cannot recommend it! He did tell me the afternoon Mashgiach is a very choshuv person and a talmid of his, but "he is not on the menu". meaning that the problems still exist. He did not specify what the problems are.
From the fact that he is not willing to disclose whatthe issues are to me that means they are very minor if any. He probably means that there are potential possible problems which is the case in half the restaurants around the world

@Dan I am not sure what is  so complicated: Find out which Chabad Rabbi in Israel knows his stuff and ask him

Well if you really want to know- many Rabanim went around to a few stores and restaurants in the 'town' area last week together with the head of 'rabbanut mehadrin' last week (not just Rabanut)
And found 100% problems! Specifically,  treif cheese coming in, false statements on certificates and many other issues...

Even though their 'written' Standards are pretty good (though still NOT on par with American hechsherim- regarding locking the storage/meet, bishel of a non from Jew, and another I forgot right now) - they don't do most of that in practice!! It is up to the mashgiach on site to keep to it (and unfortunately tey found even 'good' mashgichim who disappeared for few hours) ...

Lastly, In the words of this Rabanut representative, Rabanuts goal is just to make thing "only half treif" so at least most Israelis shouldn't be eating full treif...

Just what I heard from my Rabanim... Take what you wish...

Noone is telling anyone what to do. Everyone can draw their own conclusions! Rabbi Kuber was very adamant that the place cannot be recommended, if you feel the problems are minimal go rite ahead. Noone is gonna stop you.

+1 Ive heard along those lines as well. (Rabbi Kuber is under the staunch opinion that Rabbanut Mehadrin is unreliable EVEN FOR MILCHIGS!)

The answer is you'll ask 3 people and get 10 different answers.
And unfortunately it's one of the reasons I find traveling in Israel to be a pain.
i guess youve never been to prague?
