I emailed the manager before I left. Never heard back but when I checked in I asked and they said that already upgrades me to a deluxe room on the 3rd floor. When the guy brought me to my room they were still cleaning it. He was very apologetic so I asked if there are any other rooms available and he offered me a suite with a balcony  on the ninth floor overlooking the old city. But now I need to figure out if I can use the shabbos elevator.
nice, what kind of suite was a it? a one bedroom suite?

It appears that even though I live in the USA since I have an Israeli passport I will be hit with the VAT tax at the Waldorf >:(  Would this be applicable for award stays(free night certificate) as well? If so any workarounds?

I emailed WA and mentioned I would like an upgrade for my anni. They said it depends on availability.. however, they will give me two glasses of champagne with a small piece of cake. I emailed back saying Unfortunately I don't eat the Hotel's hechsher, but I am still looking forward to a free upgrade. (Obviously this was all said with a lot of respect and politeness.) Hoping for a nice upgrade and early check in/late check out.

Friday night was $110/adult and Rafi (3)+Talia (1) were free.
I'd give it a 7/10.

Breakfast and dinner at the dairy restaurant are both 9/10.

+ 1.  Exact same ratings and experience with same age kids.  Was very impressed that dinner for the 3-yr-old was free, especially since they brought out elaborate dinners for both 3 + 1 yr olds, including fancy desserts.  Also impressed by the room service prices for kids -- fish n' chips and very large pizza for 100 NIS total - kids loved it.

We also requested an upgrade before we arrived, and it had already been processed before we got there.  They also brought champagne + cake for our anniversary (I see that's been noted here by others, too).  The room was huge and they were happy to accommodate 2 kids + 2 adults despite the official "3 in a room" policy.      Everyone knew our names as we entered/exited the hotel, and they really went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect.  Can't say enough about this hotel and can't say thanks enough to Dan for helping me plan a luxurious trip for 4 to Israel for free!

They also brought champagne + cake for our anniversary (I see that's been noted here by others, too).
1) Did they leave the bottle of champagne in the room or they just poured it in glasses? I want to know the hechsher.
2) Also, does the cake come in packaging or it's a piece on a plate?  Because they said they'd do the same for us...
3) And regarding breakfast; Were there items in it's own packaging or do they scoop everything out and put it in serving dishes?
4) Has anyone spoken to the mashgiach about hechsher? I was told it's Rabbanut mehadrin, but most (if not all) ingredients are good hechsher, they just don't want to pay for the 'stamp' of badatz/rubin bc it's expensive. Can anyone verify this? Has anyone looked into it?

Need a response as soon as possible as we're going in the next couple days. Thanks.

i can say with 99% certainty it was a piece on a plate, unpackaged

3) And regarding breakfast; Were there items in it's own packaging or do they scoop everything out and put it in serving dishes?
the only things in its original packaging are the yogurts/puddings

Poured into glasses and cake on plate. Although there was also a nice bottle of wine waiting for us in the room with a welcome note.

hechsher is Rabbanut stam (not mehadrin)  the  meats and chicken are   Rabbanut Mehadrin (i.e. Machpoud and Rabbanut Mehadrin) they try to keep the  products up to Rabbanut Mehadrin standards-including "Triangle k"  enjoy!
