That's nonsense.

The likelihood someone is booking a points room and for the nights you need at the exact time as you refunding and rebooking is very, very small.
The odds definitely are against such a scenario, but I was more concerned that WAJ would block standard room from returning to inventory on a busy high season weekend
Either way I'm relieved to have it booked. One night left to book!

There are rooms but they've put a 2night min.  If you search for two nights, they have lots of rooms (but no standard rooms).  Ironically, when I searched just the 19th it ONLY let me book a standard room under their Diamond guarantee policy, but not with points, at $700 per night! If you're paying anyway you'd be better off to book the two nights for almost the same price as one night w/the Diamond guarantee rate...

How far in advance have people emailed for upgrades? Wait for them to email me ten days before my arrival, or email them proactively a few weeks out?
Put it in the notes on your reservation then about 4 days before, the Concierge emails you and you can request it again then.

As was mentioned here, deluxe >Jr. Suite for a couple. So I got deluxe on 9th floor ( all rooms on 9 have balcony) overlooking the garden terrace. And you?

Garden Terrace on the 4th floor opened a few nights ago. It's Tapas cigars and cocktails.
