We actually stayed at WA and met friends for Shabbos lunch at the Citadel and totally thought the WA ambience, china, decor, everything was nicer but I guess everyone is different. Plus everything you spend at WA will get you HHonors points (giving you possibly up to like 30% back for a future stay)...just for that I'd choose the Waldorf. Staying at the Citadel for the pool during the week makes total sense but for Shabbos I personally wouldn't.

anyway to get the shabbos meals for cheaper?

They do offer a house wine thar is free by the Shabbat meals
The sodas are charged to your room

Not sure about a birthday cake tho. You can always have them write happy birthday in one of the desserts

I'd bet they'd be happy to give you some kind of cake since dessert is included in the meal.

Also, I know most people can't think that far ahead but Chol HaMoed Pesach is open for points bookings Sunday March 25-29, 2018.  If you try to put in the nights before or after those it will only show premium rooms.  That means you could also use a free cert for Sunday the 25th.  If you think you might be going to Israel I'd book it ASAP because I booked all of Pesach for this year and then right after they blocked all the rooms.  The food is all no kitniyot non-gebrokts and the breakfasts were still absolutely amazing!

Yep, I got all 10 days this year and right now they have Chol HaMoed of next year showing standard rooms. Breakfast is included like usual and we ate there instead of booking any Shabbat or Chag lunches...they had tons of hot foods, lasagna, Kugels, potatoes, eggs, etc. You'all have to pay for seders or other meals you want.

the only thing free is breakfast. This is a hotel not a gemach. They are not handing free things out left and right.

Good question, because people do care about that and the hotel is catering to a frum crowd.  I don't think they offer anything in specific because a lot of people seem to make kiddush and wash at breakfast (which is open until 11 on Yom Tov and Shabbat) and then when they are eating "lunch" which is open from 1-4 that is technically their seudah shlishit.  They were also very nice to us and gave us a fridge for free so we bought cold cuts and salads and took matzahs from breakfast so we'd have food and lechem mishneh later in the day.

Actually it was kinda crazy how they did give us so much stuff (I think because they are competing with all inclusive programs and the seders are so expensive, which we did pay for)!  They also include the normal drink certificates, 2 per reservation, that could be used at the dairy restaurant and we got 8 in total.

They brought this other awesome dessert to each room before the last days candle lighting (yes, someone from my family dug into it before I could snap a pic...lol):

This is the normal Diamond welcome but because of how many separate reservations we had we got four of these and we definitely used the wine for kiddush and my kids ate the fruit for snacks:

And this one really did shock me, they brought this to our room the night before checkout.  Last time we were there they brought us some little WA coins/magnets but this is a whole different thing.  I'm thinking since we were there the whole Pesach and other programs might give gifts like this is why we got it but I was (pleasantly) shocked!

Here are a couple breakfast pics showing some salads, potatoes, and lasagna and poached egg.  They had all the pesadik waffles, pancakes and eggs made to order available during Chol HaMoed. Everything in the dining rooms for breakfast was on beautiful china just like during the year.  I'm assuming to avoid kashrut issues for Pesach, anything from room service or used or delivered to the room was nice plastic-ware.  Hope some of you guys get to go, for me as someone who would never pay for a whole Pesach program, it was really amazing...
