PH level?
The WAJ is not the PHP, they don't even have a pool! And the php is not 1000 euro on a normal day.

Clearly not, but perhaps he wants to raise it to that level?

Gotchya. But he said "Only in Israel do people not want to pay. It's not normal." How does he know people won't pay that much for a true luxurious hotel in Israel.

Will be pretty hard, unless he imports the staff from outside Israel.

And yet he's adding a pool, spa, and a 5 star restaurant.
I think it's a good bet that he intends to elevate the caliber of the hotel as well as the rates it can command.

Not hard to do.
True but neither the WAJ nor the Ritz have done it yet.

Service at the hotel is not too far from 5 star. No need to bring in staff from outside Israel.

Erm. Which 5 star hotels have you stayed in?
Service isn't close to international PH standards and snobs would say that international PH standards are not 5 stars.

Before the Ritz took Guy as the manager they had a mostly international staff and the best service in Israel that I've ever experienced.
I would say it was 5 star level although I don't have a objective scale so people may argue.
The WAJ was never on that level and certainly is not now.
Not to say that the service is bad it's excellent but I'm trying to nitpick and differentiate one top level service experience from the other.

When the WAJ opened the staff was trained by some school and were much more makpid on service. As time went on, they deteriorated to standard Israeli (non) service.

When award availability was open for sukkos I didn't have enough points in my account and waited for a transfer to post
While calling a rep told me I could book cash + points and when the transfer posts they will be able to switch it to a points reservation, But in fact this is not correct and no one at Hilton is ready to convert the reservation for me.
If a cancel my reservation what are the chances of the room going back into inventory and booking it with points?
anything else I could do to get the reservation switched over?

They haven't had ownership that desired that level.
Sometimes the customer service attitude trickles down from the top. A hotelier understands the long term value of pampering guests, while a landlord is interested in collecting rents and not in giving the tenants more than required under the terms of the negotiated lease, and a real estate developer wants to sell apartments. While the new owner has been all of these, this is not his first hotel, and he apparently had success with his others. It’s just a different business model.
