The answer to that question is a surprising yes!

I was told first hand by someone who spoke to the Mashgiach for a while regarding which products/Hechsherim he uses, and then asked to go through the kitchen where he found quite a few things the Mashgiach had mentioned a few minutes prior he would never use.

I have heard this specific story happen to more than one person. (Only one being first hand, other being second hand)
Wow. Do you have more specifics? I’m taking this with a grain of salt but like I said
The mashgiach is bound by the rules of the Rabbanut, nobody else. Nobody will call him out on doing something wrong as long as it’s within the guidelines of the Rabbanut, which is antithetical to the basis of requiring kosher certification in the first place.

And what makes you think they don't have the exact same thought process that you have? I'd venture to say they do.

I'll explain it for you simply. Bandwagon effect.

Right, I'm sure none of them did any research  ::)
Nice way to be DL"Z

No, but he will leave out certain things (As he did when I spoke to him).

It seems that the DL”Z in this case was to assume that Emkay had a good basis for what he was saying.....

If anyone isn't eating Breakfast at the hotel, please PM me.
I live 5 minutes away and will be glad to "check the Kashrus" by tasting the food.  ;D

Thanks!

I ate there this morning, the food was great! I spoke to someone who works in the Kashrus industry in Israel. He told me that it is Nothing more or less than Rabbanut Yerushalayim. So if you hold of the Hechsher great if you don't then don't eat there. They are only bound to their Hashgachas standard and no one else.

I have an upcoming stay at the WAJ, booked through a combination of different ways - some (3rd party) hilton certs, hilton points and chase points, with three different confirmation numbers.  Does it make sense to reach out in advance to combine them into one or is it too much of a hassle (and I should just deal with it upon arrival)?

If you're reluctant to call the property directly, maybe try Hilton reservations. I just used 3 certs from 3 accounts (spanning 2 different last names) and the phone rep has no issue booking for me. She also notated that the 3 reservations were for 1 continuous stay.

I just stayed with that kind of booking. I am a Diamond and when it cam to the chase nights that I booked (it is called Expedia by Waldorf) they wanted me to change rooms. I convinced them not to change. It was a little tough.

Chase works through Expedia which makes it a 3rd party booking.
3rd party bookings don't get benefits like status , or get points. So maybe that's why wanted you to change rooms bc u lost your status for those nights. Or they needed the rooms.

Best bet is when u get to hotel tell them right away u have  what's called back to back reservations
