Exactly the firestorm I expected lol
Anyhow I am very familiar with and have experience in kashrus in America but in all my research about kashrus in israel everything seemed so opaque-y. Nothing is clear. Yes people say that susch and such hechsher is garbage. But would they say that about a comparable hechsher in America that everyone eats? And it seems that even within the same hechsher the standards can vary tremendously. Yes that is true anywhere albeit on a smaller degree than it is in Israel.

Besides for the fact that at a milk rabbanut place in Israel if one avoids he cheeses there isn’t that much that can go wrong. Firestorm #2 here we go.

Do i 'must' include my 6 month old baby in my reservation? (sleeps well in her carriage..)

When i am adding a child i am unable to get the 'standard room rewards' rate.
If it benefits even just one fellow DDFer, its worth posting it.

They only use mehadrin food.
If only that was the only criteria (even assuming that his definition of mehadrin and mine align). I'm still waiting for one rabbi who knows the kashrus industry to say it's ok to eat there. Just one. I'd love to join in on the fun.

Added bonus would be, if the Rabbi actually went through Kitchen before saying its ok..

Sadly we do have a confirmed case of a Rav who actually went into the kitchen and found NON mehadrin items.

I personally know of more than one Rabbi that had the same experience.

So you are telling me the rabbanut isn't reliable when it comes to these things? I personally have been to one of the biggest fruit suppliers in Israel and watched then take off terumos and maasros. Let's be honest by the time a badatz fruit lands on your plate it was ibermaasered a dozen and a half times.

Chala is very easy to deal with and there is no real cost for them not complying. And that is an issue almost every hechser has. Specifically on bakeries where no one is around when they start their day. Every local hechsher struggles with that.

Bishul akum- for an Ashkenazi this is something very easy to keep. Especially bedieved you have the Kula of aish m'aish.

Shmita- agreed they rely on heter mechira (which btw reb shloima zalman has a teshuva which was "conveniently removed") so in a shimta year I'd be more careful.

Why don't you call a Rabbi you trust and ask him your questions?

And honestly to all those that say "speak to the Mashgiach" that is pretty much bogus.

Ive been Mashgiach before and people have come over to meto ask questions. I (like to think i) know yoreh deah but trust me I could have said anything and as long as it was said with confidence i was believed.

As the old saying goes you wouldn't just rely on someone when making investments...

don't have too many to be honest.

Definitely in Israel i don't have a handle on the rabbi scene over there.

Either way how does that answer my question?
I'd like to know what type of items they found.

I'm happy to PM you the number of a very well respected Rabbi that had this experience, and you can ask him yourself.

When it comes to Kashrus supervision, there are two important things to know:

1. What are the standards?
2. How tight is the procedural supervision/control/oversight?

As far as issue #1 is concerned, in all honesty, when a response is "all the products are Mehadrin" rather than specifying standards for products, that lowers my confidence in the Supervision. Which leads into #2 - if that's the (shallow) level of response I would get to question #1, I would be surprised if #2 is adequate.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

@TimT will find you the actual response upthread with the hechsherim used.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

At first I thought we should maybe sign a petition for waj to higher there hechsher standers, but then it crossed my mind that they might just be happy with us not being happy if it just helps even a bit that there shouldn’t be as many award reservations!  ???
give some love (likes) to a brother!
