So when they joined, it was due to the economic climate at the time?

Could be for myriad of reasons.
Perhaps construction financing is cheaper or more readily available when you open under a flagged brand.

One thing is sure, hotels in Israel all seem to be deflagged at one point or another.  It's happened to 6 SPG properties. It's happened to Hyatt and Hilton in J'lem. It's happened to PC.
It happens more in Israel than anywhere else, that's for sure.  Probably they can fill them up without the flag, so why bother to pay.

I thought it was because they are just not as nice as American hotels and I think the Americans who come there really abuse their privileges.

Well a family member if mine is managing the project.. They are officially trying to be ready for summer but doesn't seam guaranteed.. Even if construction is over thy need to have like a practice month or so to see if things run smoothly...
(And I never heard any talk about dumping Hilton yet.. As far as I know they are very happy with their help . They are making them do everything on wa standards... You can take a tour of te place (know lot of ppl that have, not just me with family connections) rooms look very nice and up to date and moving along nicely I think..
Thy first wanted the Hilton name mainly (in my opinion) o make it a status symbol to have a apartment there... Like this they are selling those for a much higher value to help fund project..)

I'm not a meiven on buildings though I've seen some finish up pretty quickly, and everytime I go in there I see huge advancement..
I dont need to advertise for them and like I said they not so sure themselves will be open by summer.. But def in the near future by now..

To me it didn't look like too much work left. Of course, things can always be delayed, but from what I saw, summer is definitely possible.
