FYI, every kashrus in Israel takes trumos/maasros.

Doesn't the KD have almost only Arab staff in the kitchen and dining room?
Not just in the kitchen, front desk everywhere

Seemed like most of the servers and the guy in charge were arab or blonde/not-jewishy (just guessing), and definitely my server Bashar.

here's my review from our short shabbos stay. the place is really the best kosher hotel i have ever stayed at (including pesach programs). Attention to detail in the hotel is unaparalleled though kosher oopsies like the minibar problem and a shabbos mode that turns off too many lights are annoying. Why can't Israeli hotels just buy a bunch of kosher lamps?
Service was really over the top, though the food for Fri Night dinner wasnt really prime grill/RC quality, the overall experience and choices were worth it, esp for israel. Note that beer and cocktails cost extra on shabbos (soft drinks, sparkling water and basic israeli wines are free). http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g293983-d2141296-r225828646-Waldorf_Astoria_Jerusalem-Jerusalem_Jerusalem_District.html#CHECK_RATES_CONT The bellhops changed a tire for me, but i had no cash to tip them, feel a little terrible about that.

Breakfast wasnt that special, feel like the breakfast at the Ruth Rimonim in Tsfat was better.

thats crazy, how could the managers not realize how silly that is in Jlem?
Because all the frumies already have apts in Jerusalem, so automatically the vast majority of the guest were supposed to be non-observant.

Oiy, what did he know about the Citi Reserve card.
Love me or hate me. I still love you.

They attach many restrictions to room redemption. For instance, many stays require at least five nights. Also, they only offer a very limited amount of rooms at the 80,000 points a night level. Try a five night stay and shift to a day before or a day after and see if you have any luck.
I haven't looked around a lot but just booked prime dates (Christmas, New Years) at 80k points a night for 5 nights.

Any chance they'd allow 3 young children in the room with parents?

I actually had a little disagreement with the HHonors person booking my hhonors reserve weekend award nights (perhaps not using award nights may be different).
Although booking.com and hotels.com show the rooms having a 3 person max, she said all basic and deluxe rooms being reserved on award had a strict 2 person max (these rooms are big btw, though most of the space is in the bathroom, but also note that kings have a bit less space with a small balcony instead). so when i reserved for my family (me, my wife, my 7 yr old, 6 yr old and 3 month old) she said we would need three rooms or would need to leave a kid home. i huca'd and got same problem.
so i just booked one room for 2 adults and an attached one for 2 kids, and then brought everyone in and noone on their staff said a word.
Don't think they will allow on reservation 5 peeps unless some special suite, but if u just bring em in, it'll be like back in yeshiva when 20 guys packed into a motel to watch the super bowl on a 19 inch tv :).

I am going the same time, I will be in Israel from Dec. 25th through Jan. 1. However, I could not find any availability for a 5 night stay from the 25th. The only combination that worked was checking in after Shabbos on the 27th and checking out the 1st. How long ago did you book yours?

(Also, do you have your flights booked? I have a flight from NYC-TLV, but I am still waiting for award space to open up for the TLV-NYC return.)

I just spoke to Eli the mashgiach myself, can give his number if u pm me. All meats are rabbanut jlem, Kehilot, chareidis or aguda, with 80 to 90 being Kehilot. I haven't been in Israel in a while, but Kehilot is a newer hechsher pushed by r karelitz per Eli. All veggies with big issues are gush Katif and all other stuff with terumos massros issues are bought from rabbanut mehadrin.
Pm sent.
