Absolutely not! A left to right order of operations is a valid mathematical method. Obviously it's generally assumed that a question involving a mathematical question is to be solved using the standard order of operations, but you can't really say that an answer that is valid using another computational method is wrong unless you specify.

My point is that putting an =0 on the other side of the equation is not necessarily a mathematically incorrect equality. It's only conventionally incorrect.

if it doesn't equate according to the rules of math it's mathematically incorrect.

when you got a different result from one of the calculators it was because you entered it wrong, not because that calculator uses different math rules.

Math is either right or wrong there. I have had calculators make errors all the time. Its the way you enter it. The equation still has only 1 right answer.

I'm so glad you both decided that I made an input error. Maybe try it yourself on any computer with Windows (or any basic calculator that operates under immediate execution). If you enter all the characters and operators in sequence left to right, a basic calculator will process each set of operations immediately. Hence the last operation will be 15 x 0 = 0. Try again with a scientific calculator and you'll see that as long as you don't press = till the end, the calculator will take in the full equation and apply the standard order of operations, resulting in a result of 14.

There is no one set of 'rules of math' (as whYME called it). When you write out an equation, it's meaningless without a set of rules determining what to do with the pieces. The standard order of operations is what you've all been ingrained to think is the rules. While of course it's the standard set of rules, it is not the only set of rules (see here).

I have to disagree.
The order of operations is the rule to be followed in all mathematical equations. Not doing so means getting the wrong answer.
The Immediate execution function of calculators doesn't make the answer right. That function is there for instances where your calculating a string of separate equations rather then one long one.
 For example a teacher calculating a students mean score would add all the scores and divide by the amount of tests. lets say for scores of 98, 85, 90, 91.the calculations made would be
98+85+90+91 /4
In this case a calculator with scientific function would treat this as one equation and  divide first then add,  therefore it wouldn't give you the mean score. With immediate execution you would add all the numbers first and then divide which would give you the mean score.
