Thanks. I'll need to look more into it, especially hotels.

At 70k HH that's quite expensive.

Good news! UberX is now available (as of 4/16/16) in NOLA and can pick up from MSY for $33 flat rate (vs the $36 flat rate the cabs cost). Rides around the CBD/FQ are $5-7.

Is it worth staying at the Hyatt FQ for 15k vs the Hyatt Regency on Loyola for 6556 UR (booked though UR)? The HR is .7 miles from the FQ and the WWII museum (our two attractions), where the Hyatt FQ is in the FQ and 1 mile from the WWII museum. FWIW the HR is going for $81.20 on UR and $261 on Hyatt.com while the Hyatt FQ is $180 on Hyatt.com.

Any thoughts?

I've head Waffles is amazing, both their savory and sweet waffles, though I haven't tasted them personally. It's also an easy streetcar ride away.

  • Programs: 1. Search on google. 2. Search in the right board of DDF with a general word or two. 3. Read the wiki. 4. Read the thread. 5. Ask away.

With 30 hours there I don't see why not try out the 2 main restaurants. That said the waffles were much more memorable.

u refer to waffles and casablanca right? Issue for me is we want to spend time in fq, and if we are just driving everywhere/taking ubers a half hour away for food it seems a bit of a waste if it wont be exceptional. i live in ny and have the best restaurants in the world readily available.

FQ is overrated. I found it nice during the day but quite noisy at night, especially near Bourbon St. I stayed in the CBD which was a 15 minute walk and completely quiet and safe at night.

great, im gonna be in the central bus district too, staying at the decently valued Le Meridien (10k points or $200, gonna spend some points bc who knows when SPG will devalue...) gonna check out fq and also garden district. we love just walking around and exploring new cities, much more than shlepping far for restaurants that arent special. game plan is fq/bourbon street late sat night with beingets for melava malka, sleep late and fq/garden dist sunday morning, waffles/pizza at 3pm, pick up some salads/wraps to go from HK around 5ish (sadly they stopped delivering on grubhub recently), back to hotel fridge, then Preservation Hall 8pm show w/Wendell Brunious, more beignets, cold dinner in hotel and sleep til our 6:55am flight back.

Looks like a good plan, but seriously consider not going to Bourbon Street especially Saturday night. Visit any other street in the FQ and you'll be fine. All you'll find on Bourbon Street is a whole bunch of bars, a lot of rowdy and drunk people, and a lot of vomit and urine all over the place. The place smells like a bad hangover. The river wall and Royal street are much better bets. It's not like they even have kosher food there.
