Help Redeeming Avios
« Reply #61 on: May 07, 2012, 09:47:12 PM »
I somewhat new (and late) to the game. I'm trying to book a RT ticket from LGA-YYZ on BA using Avios. The problem is the way there they only have Bushiness class available, do I have to book two one ways or is there a way to book one ticket using 2 classes, and if yes how is that done?  They only seem to give you the option of class once.

not sure but what do you lose by booking two one ways?

Cancelling/changing is more expensive, no?

depends.  might actually be cheaper.  since the taxes to YYZ are only $2.50, if you need to change that leg, you could just cancel and lose your tax and rebook, vs if you booked roundtrip you would need to pay the $40 change fee.

IIRC the tax is more than that when going to Canada
and if you booked round trip why couldn't you just cancel the whole thing unless your trying to save $2.50

round trip the taxes are approx. $60, which when broken down is $2.50 to Canada and $57 from Canada.  So if you might want to change your trip to Canada without a fee, it is best to book 2 one ways.

Actually, it's the Canadian taxes that are so high.

Need to book a MAD-EZE on Business for Aug 9 but the system comes up with too long a stopover in SCL; Iberia flight 6831 MAD-SCL  and Lan flight 0445 SCL-EZE (or Lan 2428 even longer stopover).
So now I'm trying to search just for the MAD-SCL for the Iberia 6831 but system is not coming up with it.
What's the deal?
I mean the original results is two separate airlines so I don't understand how come the MAD-SCL is not showing.
PS. Same thing happens for the 10th.
Anyone?

Based on the fact that Qantas.com also does the same thing, it appears to be married segment availability.
There's no way to manually split that up.
You can however do MAD-GIG-EZE with a 90 minute connection in J if it's for 1 passenger.

Hi so I'm having trouble with the redeeming Avios for AA flights.

I found a rewards flight with AA, for June 16th at 10pm from LAX to LGA but it doesn't show on BA. (It did show once, but then when I tried to book it, it just brought me back to the original screen and it doesn't show anymore)

Here's the flight info:
Saturday, June 16th
Depart: LAX (after shabbos) on the 16th
Arrive: NYC (connections are fine)

Thanks for you help

There is no saver availability, not bookable with avios. I don't think they fly lax-lga anyways, just to jfk.
There is business availability on the 935 pm flight
Life isn't about checking the boxes. Nobody cares.

Can you please explain the "married segment" concept? (LOL I had to reread that. at first I thought it wad Madrid typoed).

BTW, Quantas shows tons of stuff that I cannot get BA to show it, does that mean BA doesn't have it altogether?
