You don't need an account to check to see if AA is bookable just go into their website.

You need to check the mileage award box.

JFK-CUN this evening, Lots of seats on aa.com but nothing on ba.com and when I called them they could not find anything.

It seems, giving the BA reps. the exact flight number should help.

I think if you cancel withing 24 hours of flying you get your miles back.
You pay anything less the amount of taxes.

I was thinking this;
If no availability JFK to YVR but there's availability to HKG,
Book JFK to HKG via YVR, and Call in to cancel second leg.
Possible ?
