I know Dan had a post about linking your award ticket to you AA account in order to use your status and checked bags on the BA booked flights... But is there anyway to know if you have a free bag just booking a regular AA award ticket using avios.

I am trying to make a flight EWR - SEA SEA-LAX LAX-EWR ... so I am using united to just make a Open Jaw RT EWR-SEA and LAX-EWR... and plan on using avios to get from SEA-LAX .... but not sure if I will have to pay for a bag for that flight. .

you will have to pay for the bag, unless you have status and follow Dan's instructions

Bit new here, and still getting the hang of everything

I'm looking to book a ticket FROM Israel to NY using Avios, and BA.com's search engine is still super confusing to me. I tried using AA's website, as many have suggested, but the search engine says I need to call them to make any reservations not originating in the US. Anyone have any ideas of how to search? I'm traveling with my wife and a child and (tentatively) we want to be there between May 22 and May 29.

So I looked at it again, and just wanted to make sure I've understood correctly:

I found El Al reward flights on the dates I want using El Al's website. I am then supposed to call AA in order to book the flight through them? I want to use my BA Avios to pay for the flight, but should wait to transfer them to AA until I make sure their is availability through AA?

Now that I think about it, my question has become more relevant for a different thread

Anyone know how to book other people tickets with your avios and be sure they will confirm the ticket and not close you down? I've booked about 10 tickets already new York to Toronto for other people. But I'm starting to get nervous about getting busted..... Any Advice please.

Not really but I'll try.
Only AA can book el al not BA. And you can't transfer points from BA to AA.

How to book? Search for availability on AA and plug in dates on BA.

AA does indeed offer direct flights between ORD<-->FLL and ORD<-->MIA.

I've been trying to cancel an Avios booking online for the past few days and keep getting:

"Unfortunately our systems are not responding, so we are unable to process your request at the moment.
We apologise for this inconvenience and suggest you try again later."

Any ideas what to do? If I do it by phone it will cost me $40/passenger, right?
