does anyone know if there are certain reasons for canceling that raise flags?
whats the best excuse to make them stop bothering you and just close the account?

i just cancelled my wives plat and the guy seemed really annoyed. he said something like "this isnt even your first platinum card". i told him that i thought you needed 2 plat cards to get into lounges and really you need one card and the cardholder can bring a guest. so no point in paying twice. he was clearly agitated and now im nervous that i'll get tagged or blacklisted.

You can cancel most cards online, though you won't get a retention bonus that way.

Gotta weigh the antagonism against the reward :P

the Plat, for one, seems less than ideal.

(That said, I'd always try to get the retention, no matter what the ephemeral antagonism)

Unless you're brushing up against the 60 day limit.

Has anyone received a retention for Plat if the canceling is within 60 days?

what has been the most amex has offered anyone to to keep the delta card? also, lets say they offer me 10k to stay on board, will the $99 annual fee be prorated? or once they charge it, its theirs?
