did U ask AA about AA to anywhere in Europe and connecting to LY? or Iberia? or AA to London and BA onward from there (this would be my last choice even if it was ElAl as teh UK is an expensive place tax wise, but better then nothing).

I take it you are brand new to this Game

I say that simply cause besides AA I think BA are the only other Carriers that allows a person to cash in for a 1 way tkt. and BA will hit you with tons of fees so its not usually worth it

If I was you,Id grab whatever AA can give me either change the dates to TLV to whatever AA has available or take whatever AA is able to find with a connection in Europe

Otherwise you will have to cash out using your SPG pts for either CO or US (dont think they deal with ElAl).And then you have to hope they have the dates you want available, check before moving your SPG pts and Biz on both US and CO for Saver Awards arent that easy to find especially to/from TLV

Steve, thanks for your help. nyc-london coach, london-tlv biz. tlv-nyc biz direct. fees are $2xx each person. I was hoping for a direct outbound, or atleast biz all the way. I put a ticket on hold & hope something better opens up in the next few days. Any tricks of the trade? Any way to extend the hold?

I will assume you book everything via AA, with AA you can call them up and if the same flights you have on hold are still available they will roll it over for another 5 days. * thsi I was able to do numerous times with AA but I was flying only AA metal (obvious teh tkt wasnt to TLV) Dont know if they will do that if there are other Carriers involved besides AA, cant hurt to ask

** Be careful if you cross over the 21 day in advance period even thou you put it on Hold before the 21st day, you will be hit with the Close In Tkting fees. Less then 21 days its $50 it goes up I think <7 then <3

also did they put you on ElAl or BA out of LHR? I believe ElAl will have less fees, but no way out of the UK taxes, BTW I think its higher for Biz and then FC over coach

im doing a elal flight this week. I did it with aa miles (bus class) but i made the reservation way back when the dates first open for reservations (I think its 11 months so that would have been end of Jan begining of feb) if you dont do it early then its usually not available with elal. I know i tried doing last  year and wasnt able to get it on elal so i had to go delta atlanta to tlv and co from tlv to ewr. That was with co miles. this year since i did really early i was able to use the aa miles and get a elal flight
