XM radio
« on: March 21, 2012, 12:18:06 AM »
My car came with a free trial of sirius xm radio. I enjoyed but have no interest in paying $14.95/month for it so I let it expire. They are apparently really desperate for customers and have been calling me non stop since. I think I finally got their best offer 6 months for 24.95. Anyone ever do better?

How soon can I call to cancel auto renewal?
Life isn't about checking the boxes. Nobody cares.

Tha is ia pretty good deal. I actually have Sirius with the best of XM lifetime subscription. When it first hit the market they had a promo it was something like pay a year full price in full and have a lifetime subscription!

2 month free trial Link.

Officially it is only for pre-owned cars, but it seems to work for new ones too.

I think the 6 months for $25 is their cheapest plan IME. I keep on getting that whenever my subscription ends to keep it going, without it i'll cancel that day.

Correction, I do get the 6 months for $20 sometimes, even better.

Make sure you do not leave your CC on file. Once those six months end, they will charge you a ridiculous price and make it very annoying to get it refunded.

I always say i do not need their service, but for $25 i'll keep it going.

I just set a reminder on my calendar when those six months are over to call back and have them set me up for another six months for $25 or just to cancel my subscription.

Sorry to hear, were you able to get a refund at least? When that happened to me gave me a refund of the amount paid then added the $25 plan

I got the refund, but they definitely do not make it easy to get.

Thank! this worked for me, but do you understand these terms? :

"*This is a free, no-obligation trial. No credit card or other payment information is required to take advantage of this offer, only your personal information is needed to set-up an account. If you decide to continue at the end of your trial subscription, service will continue until you call us at 1-866-635-2349 to cancel."

Are they going to bill me if I forget to call?

UPDATE: IT didn't work. There was an error on the last page.

After some trial-and-error (i.e. forgetting to cancel, and getting stuck paying; also, not always having a coupon or link handy), I've kinda gotten into a groove whereby I call them when I come into the US for Pesach and tell them "I heard there's an offer out there for 6 months for $25, with waived activation". If they say there's no offer for waived activation, I ask them to waive it anyway. :P Those six months cover my Pesach trip to the US, as well as my summer trip to the US. Then, when I leave back to Israel for Elul, I cancel it. Next Pesach... lather, rinse, repeat. :)

Would this work if my car already came with a 3 months trial when new?

YMMV. If you can give them a decent reason, they should give you another trial.

Did you have the car when it had the trial? How long ago was the trial period?
