Oh! There is an option to get a round-trip to TLV on Aug for $850? As I see you can only get these prices for max 2-3 month ahead.
Love me or hate me. I still love you.

Sapphire, or Sapphire Preferred (that's not the same)?

You'd log onto UltimateRewards.com,  Combine Points and transfer to an Sapphire Preferred/Ink Bold account. Then you'd log onto the account you transferred to and choose 'transfer points', the choose United etc.

:o

You're almost certainly not right when redeeming for higher-class fares (J/F), and you're even when redeeming for coach fares you may not come out ahead.

I did not advise the OP to sell his points, i simply told him how to go about making an educated decision, as i figured that he may not

be aware of the selling value of these points.

Parenthetically i flew this past January to Israel and i sold points to buy tickets with (for me, my wife, and daughter) and when

including all aspects i walked away with over $1000, that i would not have had, had i booked with points. This scenario may not be

typical but it is possible.

Yep, seems you sold and bought tickets in Y, which, as has been pointed out, can be economically advantageous in certain cases.

Yes, Y stands for coach (though, being refundable, its often the most expensive form of coach :) )

I did the same this past summer. No CO availability at the time, so I offloaded 500k MR and used that to pay for the tix that I paid around 1k for. So rather than 80k miles, I paid 1k, and received 12k miles for the flight and another 3k MR for the booking, so overall, came out ahead.

However, I helped ppl book Pesach tix, and they paid 80k miles rather than the 1.5k+ for the tix, so in their situation, that was probably advantageous.
