Mordy get a better example please, here we are just talking about Dodge, we have some codes that are used on most the Sprint cell Phones, most these codes work on VZW and Alltel, you just need to change the starting code with #*# when for Sprint it's ##.

Also i saw some-1 made a discussion about a car he wanted to buy in the 50k range, there are so man car reviews sites out there, this is a deals forum as far as i may understand from it's name, but i guess people just chose to talk about anything thy want off there head, and also this is not a hating forum i suppose hy is there a topic on hating a company? Go to the Mac forums and tell it there.

I do respect the fact that it's just an opinion but to me i don't think its valid.

If you want to set it to EVDO only, go to ##3836# that should let you choose between EVDO/1X/HYBRID.

Hope this helps.

what is ## ### ## mean and how does it work

Here are some.

##DATA# (##3282#) - data provisioning
##DEBUG# (##33284#) - typical debug menu

On verizon its #*#33284#

##ERR# (##377#) - shows last error
##EVDO# (##3836#) - force or disable EVDO
##HWTST# (##49878#) - hardware test
##PREV# (##7738) - sets the P_REV of your voice calls
##PRI# (##774#) - reset your PRI (advance)
##RTN# (##786#) - lifetimer counter
##TIME# (##8463#) - displays current time

##633# Turn the phone radio OFF
##66# Turn the phone radio ON

Go to the SMS screen, not inside a chat log.
To the main SMS screen that lists All your chat sessions
Then push Menu(pull down menu button) and S
Hold them, the phone will beep about 3 times .
release both buttons after u hear the beeps.
and then push Menu button again.
Secret Menu will apear!
Some of these ## functions will work with other CDMA networks (VZW, Alltel) but you will need to change the starting of the code to #*# and then do the rest as you see it.

Scrable, this is what I'm talking about.  And for your info, the same ## code will do something different on my older Samsung phone versus my HTC, and won't do anything at all on any of my T-mobile handsets. If you want to talk about what you know, label it properly! The guy who was asking about a car was asking for advice... if you were asking for advice, I'd still tell you to title it properly!

BN, what type of phone/service do you have?

To use your phone (the Centro obviously 8)) as a modem get PdaNet (from bittorent).
To only make your phone only roam, go to the phone app then "menu + R" and change the setting there, it might take a few tries to actually get it to work. when i roam i don't get 3g speed.
I'm going to start a palm thread!

Good idea with the palm thread.
Also, not sure what the forum's policy is on pirated software, so careful mentioning bittorent.

in some areas, sprint has a roaming agreement with a company that has better reception than they do. In those areas, when you switch in/out of roaming, your call is dropped.
If you switch to roaming only, it won't bother looking for a sprint tower and you'll keep your call from dropping.

Downsides is that most roaming partners don't allow EVDO, and mobile to mobile doesn't count.

Sprint is one of the only service providers worth doing this with.

Mordy, mobile to mobile don't count if you're roaming? I never heard that before. You have backup for this info or were you just assuming?

I try not to "assume" anything when posting information. It causes problems.

From support.sprint.com:
Quote
If you are a Sprint PCS subscriber and you roam off of the Sprint PCS Network, any calls you make or receive will be charged as roaming calls. Therefore, you won't receive the benefit of your Mobile-to-Mobile option while roaming.
Also in the fine print regarding plan features:
Quote
Sprint Mobile to Mobile is not available while roaming.

When will people learn to stop questioning me?
Most anything I say I can back up with sources. One of the perils of thinking like a journalist I suppose. ;)

Oh relax, I wasn't attacking I just never heard of that before. And for the record, I don't think they actually implement this. I think what it means is that if you're roaming in a place where you pay for roaming, like Canada or anywhere out of the states, that is when M2M is not in effect. If you're just roaming in Monsey, NY cruising down 306 on Verizon's network, I'm pretty sure M2M will still be in effect.

Hmmm... I can't say I've bothered to check if they implement this or not. Its their policy, so... and it makes sense since they're paying for someone else's services.

Edit: just sent a text over to a buddy of mine who leaves his phone on "roam only" all day cuz he has poor sprint coverage in his apartment complex. He responded that calls to his wife (also on sprint) DO in fact come out of his bucket, and so he treats it like he doesn't have m2m at all. Maybe some people they choose to turn a blind eye? Eli, are you sure they DON'T take those minutes out of your assignment?

I'm not sure because I don't use Sprint. I know that I've never seen a call from my Cingular phone to another mobile number that showed up as a regular call. Maybe I wasn't roaming, and maybe I wasn't checking. All I'm saying is that if they have roaming agreements in the states, there's no reason why it should not take it out of your M2M package. It's definitely something you can complain about if there is a M2M call that doesn't show up that way. I guarantee you that CS will have no idea what to say but to give you a credit for those minutes. Ask your friend to try it.

I know I just started but I hope to contribute to these forums to the best of my ability. I agree with Mordy that this thread is a little ridiculous. There are many carriers and hundreds of phones out there, and ## commands will work on some and not on others. Additionally, they won't necessarily perform the same functions.
So in order to make this these threads helpful, IMHO, it would make sense to create threads that are phone specific, phone manufacturer specific, or even carrier specific. I think that this forum has alot of potential to succeed, and if you think about the future at all, picture what a thread like this will look like in 6 months from now. It will be impossible to find any useful information, especially as technology changes.
How to do things on your cell Phone is not an appropriate title for a thread, it's an appropriate title for an entire forum containing threads.

Just thought I'd add in my two cents...

I know for a fact from experience that calls while roaming are not M2M but regular minutes. Secondly Sprint will hit you with roaming charges once in a while.

Are you kidding me? I didn't know they were the last to get it...
WM has had it almost a year, even my wife's "dumb" phone had location (not exact tho).

Wow. Is this a real-life example of Palm development actually slowing?
