Mr Baruch, you mixed up Citi with Barclays.
We're still before merge...

I didn't mix up anything. According to numerous reports Citi AA 2bm = 1 approval at most.

Looks like US Airways and American are going to be merging and we may know by Monday. I hate it that we keep losing carriers and with that different options and competition.

The bright side of this merger, is to be able to put my useless us miles into aa. I have lots of us just sitting around.

US miles are not useless. And "lots" of US miles are def not useless IMHO .

They are in separate accounts. I've found it pretty hard to get redemption's with us.

Is TLV impounding US Airways ACFT tommorrow? Or is Flight 796/797 being canceled?

If they're in separate accounts under the same name you can merge them.

Don't want to, cuz they are accounts that have miles just from signup bonuses, heard they could shut it.

Very rare. It's worth it Risk/Reward.

Its worth the risk to lose 40k, for the reward that u might have 80k together?

So, the general consensus here is go for US Airways cards now while we can? If so, which card/s are recommended? A personal and business to max-out?

Deal is official btw: http://finance.yahoo.com/news/ap-sources-american-airlines-us-004018969.html

A friend expressed concern that the merger might leave the short haul BA flights, without AA as a partner, if they leave Oneworld for Star Alliance. The ABC article below clearly says "American and US Air will merge frequent flier programs. The new American Airlines will be part of the oneworld Alliance. US Airways will leave the Star Alliance." So, anyone who was worried, can breate a sigh of relief! :)

I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.
