So now to get back on topic... I think US and AA could be good fun if done right. Lots of great opportunities to do well. But with the las US merger not sure how well they can handle it.

-US still flies completely separate fleets than HP as they butchered the US-HP merger.
-AA and US both have almost zero presence internationally, save for AA in Latin America.  They add almost nothing to each other. (DL/NW and CO/UA both added a lot internationally for each other)
-US has many good opportunities for *A accumulation and a very good award chart that will go away when they become AA in OW.
-US will likely stop flying to TLV if they become AA due to pension issues from TWA.

What are you looking forward to exactly?

Notice how AA doesn't fly to TLV?  That's because their plane would be seized to pay off TWA pensions liabilities they didn't pay to TLV based employees.  Of course AA didn't actually buy TWA, but tell them to disgruntled former employees who got stiffed...

+1.
Although I find it hard to believe that's enough money to make it worthwhile for AA to give up a line that seems like a gold mine for the other carriers.

If AA didnt buy TWA, why should the plane be seized?

They did buy their assets.  Israel may not recognize the excluding of the pensions as being legal.

I'm not saying what's going on now isn't disastrous, however when you're merging 2 massive companies like CO and UA it's obvious that there will be merger pains for the first couple months.
+1 cut them some slack and watch them become seamless and their "shevach" be far larger than their "pgam"..
OTOH, AA-US, what good can come out of it?

In case of possible merger, US airways dividend miles under *A will survive or AA OW will survive? IEEE a comment here that OW will survive and *A will go away. Is that they way it may happen?

If this happens, we might see a potential reduction in award flights, does this make the BA/AA Credit cards less appealing?

Even of greater concern to me.  What happens to my aa virtual gift cards.  I know that historically carriers have honored mileage but I am concerned about the gift cards.  Anyone have insight?

A merger takes at the very least on year
