Citi Thankyou Points - Any Update on Mileage Transfers or other best uses?
« Reply #400 on: September 10, 2012, 07:10:17 PM »
Couldn't find any update anywhere (or about TYP in the recent past); anyone know if they will allow mile transfers soon, or how to get more bang for Thankyou points than gift cards at 1 cent per point (in 10K increments)?

thanks for the link, i understand the snark because u assume i didn't search, but i searched for all syntaxes (TYP, thankyou points thank you) and didn't find anything (the thread u link was labeled as "thank you" which isn't the real reference/trademark, and pulls up false search findings easily). in any event, sorry for being a newbie.

Not sure if this has been posted but a very good use for the ATT Universal card is for professional services (accountant) which pays 3 points for every $. I don't think there is another card that pay that rate on professional services.

When I cancelled to my AA Biz account I downgraded to the ATT card and didn't think I would find much use for it but I have been able to get 5% back on my ATT bill which includes my Iphone 5 purchase (although Chase Ink 5% would be more valueable) and the 3% back on my tax accountant.

Anyone know what the best way is to redeem thankyou points?

There travel portal is terrible they charge double the amount as priceline.

You can redeem 10,000 points for $100 which give you $0.01 a point for Hyatt hotels. Is there anything better?

I meant using the points for actual airline travel.

There are plenty of gift card options, including Amazon, Macys, etc. You can also have them pay your student lone at 1CPP.

Some of it was posted here although I can't find it now, but I was excited to see that s/o else has the card as well.

This also works to make a payment to your credit card, or any loan...  which is basically equivalent to cash @ 1cpp, so IMO there would be no reason to get gift cards unless they are on sale.

I can buy  visa gift card in store for $500 with the CITI THANK YOU PREMIER CARD and than use my thank you points to pay the $500 credit card balance?

it would be 50k thank you points for $500 card balance?

if that's the case, I 'd jump on it.

Thank you rewards site sells $100 citi visa prepaid card for 140k points, 0UCHHHHHHHHH!

Misleading email from Citi, subject reads:

"Important changes to ThankYou.com"

Turns out it's nothing to write home about, same cr@ppy redemption options with improved interface.

I have 2 CITI TYP cards with 50k + on each . Any downside to merging the 2 TYP balances .
( accounts)

Can it be a problem down the road when offering one up for approval of a new Citi card?
The airline transfer a dead deal ?

Ticked me off as well.
Although if they consider these 'important changes', it makes sense that they're a terrible currency.
