Not sure how you can unequivocally say that.

The whales, the guys putting 3MM+ per month on their cards, ain't doing it on a co-branded Delta card. Trust me. I personally know four such people.

Each one of these guys equals 3,000 average Joe's who spend their $1,000/mo on gas and groceries.

Usually the NPSL cards are not co-branded, hence there's more spending on those cards.

They'd rather keep those massive amount of points with them and not have to immediately pay the airlines.

Most of these guys keep huge chunks of MR/UR points in their account without even knowing how to use it.

Not sure what you mean by the second line, but for the balance, exactly.

is ST considered a co-branded card? if so your whales will be overrun by barracudas.  :)

That the banks only pay the airline once you actually transfer their points, as opposed to a co-branded card where they transfer and pay the airline immediately after each month's statement closing date?

I don't know, but I imagine that banks pay the airlines less than 1cpm, which means it's actually worse if cardholders don't transfer them.

Suntrust cobrand DL debit.

Banks pay more than 1cpm for transfers. Exactly why AMEX makes it hard for the masses to find.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

+ his point was that this is money they need to spend down the road vs money they need to shell out now. Money costs money...

My perspective. A guy that's flying UA a lot rather do all his spending on a UA card so he can earn his miles and doesn't have to be "busy" with transferring etc.

The big guns that are spending a lot. Will use a SP/SPG/BGR and cash out via GC or 1% which the banks offer (or some are savvy enough to sell for 1.4-1.5, which is a minority).

If so, why not use the 2% CB cards?

Barclay's 2% is not a charge card, and therefore is not in the league of the 'big guns'. Not sure about the others.

But, yes, אין הכא נמי, Amex does offer the plum card. And judging from the fact that they haven't discontinued it, I'm going to assume people are using it.

Fair point, but between the Capital One Spark and the Amex Fidelity you can at least get 2% on SOME spending.

Not talking about Barclays, and the Plum card only offers 1.5%.

People spending $3MM a month are not hustling around trying to get an extra .05% on 1% of their spend.

Exactly, most of these people are old timers and been with Amex for years. They like Amex because of there high CL, easy disputes, and CS (Which is why they don't switch to the ink cards).

These guys don't have a Plum card since they rather pay an AF for the Plat to feel more Chashuv or to have the BGR for spend cat.

I like how the "Citi TYP" thread has turned into an amex thread, this is why many people have a hard time navigating between the real info and the chatter

Except it didn't.

It's called evolution of conversation.

The whole topic of conversation was why TYP did not add AA as a partner. Shockingly, answering that question requires certain words that may not be "Thank" "You" "Points" or "Citi."
