booking an spg hotel with a platinum card
« on: December 29, 2009, 03:01:46 PM »
I currently have spg gold. If I get someone with spg platinum to book a room for me (and I just transfer them the points + a bonus for the favor...) will I have more of a chance of getting a suite?  Or do I actually have to show the platinum card when I arrive?

Yes that would work and would give you a good shot at a suite, but point transferring can be risky.

Like I said it can be risky.
If they see you change your account address back and forth on the same day to transfer points it's asking for trouble.

It also depends on which Hotel and when the stay is, a number of *W Hotels dont have too many suites to begin with and keep in mind that a Suite that isnt a Standard Suite such as Presidental or Penthouse are not part of the Upgrade system although many Hotels will give them out as UPs they dont have to

also for the Hot spots Im sure people are using more Pts in order to guarantee a Suite

Is there a way to book a room using my points together with a plat. To help secure suite?
