My lovely wife got me 3 parking tickets in 2 weeks, your not alone. Unfortunately I already paid them, this posting couldve saved me a nice amount of $$.

On another note, would the fighting tickets via those mentioned work for tint? I'm sitting on two tickets....

Got a ticket when I was in town for shevuous.  In the old days I would just plea bargain it and pay it, but since they stopped that program, I may as well get my five minutes of kicks out of writing reasons for it to be dismissed.

Here's the first idea that popped into my head, which I just submitted.   I hope they don't read ddf.

Quote
I respectfully request that this ticket be dismissed because the ticket does not state information sufficient to state a claim of violation, and in all events there is insufficient evidence as to a violation of the law.

The ticket says that the car was parked in the alternate side zone at exactly 10:36 AM, which is exactly 1 minute after the 5 minute grace period expires, and only 6 minutes after the posted "no parking" goes into effect.  Thus, if the time was a mere ONE minute fast, the ticket is invalid, and if it was a mere SIX minutes fast, then parking there was not even illegal.

Everyone knows that it is quite easy for a watch to be off by one minute, and also easy for a device that is not regularly calibrated to be off by six minutes.  The ticket does not state if the time was obtained through the scanning device, or perhaps from the traffic officer's watch, or by radioing in and asking the dispatcher, or perhaps even by guesstimating.

Certainly the officer's guesstimating the time is insufficient to state a claim of violation, and the ticket does not state how else the time was obtained--thus no violation is alleged.  Moreover, if the time was in fact obtained from a device, the ticket does not state how or when such device was calibrated to the correct time--thus, there is insufficient evidence of violation.

If the city wishes to pursue this action, I request the maintenance logs for the scanning device including how often and when it was tested for timing accuracy, as well as the maintenance logs for all other devices carried by the agent for use in telling time.

Because of the foregoing, I respectfully request that this ticket be dismissed.

Ha! Would live to hear their response. Btw, if you really get a kick out of this maybe you can help me dispute my ticket I just got? It is for no license plate on front of my car. I came home after being away for shavuos and someone had knocked the plates off the  front of my car.

Your letter is cute, drawing at straws, and pushing the limits  and you want the judge to agree with its cuteness part.  I would probably add a cute phrase/sentence/note of some type alluding to that so that the judge is agreeing with you rather than agreeing with the drawing at straws or pushing the limits aspect.

Writing your note in your lawyerese would make it even cuter.  Maybe an idea like..."ok, Judge, are you ready for this?" or "Don't laugh, now, I'm serious" or "Your Honor, I really thought this out.  Please humor me" etc.   The idea is that you are aware that you are stretching it a bit and you are saying it before the judge says it.  This way there's no point in his saying it to you and may take your letter in jokelike/cutelike fashion, as well, and enjoy the interaction as opposed to telling you off.  Hatzlocho.

Well these judges never went to Law school, they will have no darn idea what you want from them. They are hired by the NYC Dept of finance to find guilty everyone who does not want to donate money to to the City. It's one of the most corrupted guys you deal with. Hence, why you pay $115 for parking at a fire hydrant. And yeah I've yet to see a police car circling around for parking, they are very comfortable at the fire hydrants.
You can say what you think when you think what you say.
