Looking for more feedback on this. For those that have flown RJ, did you (or would you if you had to) feel comfortable putting on tallis and tefillin for shachris?

Also, everything I've seen online indicates I wouldn't need a visa if I'm just laying over in the airport for a few hours. However, someone gave me a very vague warning that people had issues and I should look into it further. So I'm just looking for confirmation on what I might need to be aware of regarding visas.

TIA

No issue at all with visas if not leaving airport.

Yeah, just found confirmation of that here:

If you are transiting through Queen Alia International Airport and are not leaving the airport, no visa is needed.
Thanks.

Anyone care to chime in about davening with tallis and tefillin on the plane? Quoting others who said they flew RJ to catch their attention hopefully.
in the 8 times ive flown through AMM i have yet to see 1 american, let alone a soldier
I flew RJ from Tel Aviv to Amman and had no problem. I went to Amman, Petra with wife and kid incl tefillin, was no hassle. I would say its 100% save to travel through Amman airport.
Just flew through there and plenty of yidden were wearing their religious head coverings in an explicit fashion.

Ugh... just now realizing that RJ doesn't participate in TSA Pre, after making myself crazy to get GE in time. Was really looking forward to that benefit on the way out of JFK next week.

You can ask a million times if it's safe, and the answer is all going to be that historically there have not been issues, but you are taking some amount of additional risk.

I personally, popped the extra hundred or so per ticket to avoid Jordan or Turkey, mostly bec I'm taking my kids.  I don't think you're reckless or even negligent for going; it all depends on your budget and your risk tolerance.

You're also taking some additional risk by going to EY at all, as far as that goes.

Not sure if you're directing that at me or the masses that keep asking, but for me it would've been over $5k vs $3400 for my whole family (5 tickets). Seemed like a no brainer, and still does. Of course I might be singing a different tune after the fact - I guess we'll see.

For me was like 3k vs 3.5k for family.  Was no brainer not to.

There's no airline called "German." I'm sorry I am being pedantic, but it sounds like a sloppy way of referring to Lufthansa. Although possibly you mean Germania. Or possibly even Germanwings. Who knows? It would be like referring to Qantas as Australian.

That's ok, I don't know what pedantic means.

I figure I'll just show up to Logan, and whichever of Germania, Germanwings, Lufthansa, Luftwaffe, or Shnitzelweiner has flights that day to Germany, I'll take that one.

What's Logan? Just say "Boston airport."

True but doesn't change my statement. Make sure you end up in the subjectively right airport.
