HI is warm and Zika free. CA can be chilly in the winter. It's not FL or HI.

HI is too far for a Sunday-Thursday trip.
I said not cold!
PHX is a good option but we did it already.

Being that the PCH is closed by in the Big Sir area, is there any point in driving down the PCH until the closure point and then turning around and heading back North? Would need to cut across up by Carmel to pick up the 101 and then can pick up the PCH in the SLO area. Is that worth it at all?

Also, how much time is fair to give to reasonably see the sites of Yosemite?

You can, or you can wait for them to fix PCH. Yosemite will take as long as you want: a few hours go a few days.

planning a 2-3 day trip and drive down from No cal to so cal along PCH

1.   are parts of PCH still closed?

2. I want to catch a weekday minyan every day.  Is there any reliable weekday minyan between San jose and LA?

3. I see there are no restaurants between San Jose and LA but how about some nice hotel recommendations  in between LA and San Jose

It's in Oxnard, which is the LA area. PCH starts basically past Santa Barbara (going north).

No. Santa Barbara may have, but that's it. It's not even confirmed. Once you're in Santa Barbara though you may as well just drive to LA and daven in a normal place.

Not sure if you have other kosher options to choose.

There aren't any others. If you want an honest winery with vineyards, the only one I know about is Hagafen in Sonoma. Herzog doesn't have vineyards at their location.

Right, though that is hardly on the way. Would be 1h45m each way from SJC to Napa.

Was a lot of fun! I would recommend going to a non-kosher winery in the area and then to hagafen for a tasting

Oh, totally. It's way out of the way, it's just the only kosher winery in CA, so I'm mentioning it here so he doesn't say, "what about....".
