I know I can change the FFN on a ticket booked with Avios to an AAdvantage number to get the benefits if that AAdvantage account has benefits such as a free bag, but will I get the benefits if its not my Aadvantage account (its a friend's account who has a Citi AA card). If I do get the benefits such as a free bag, how would I know?

Getting AA Benefits On A Flight Booked Using BA Avios
http://www.dansdeals.com/archives/29252

I have done this many times for myself; and am now trying to do for my parents. They booked a AA flight with Avios but they dont have their own Citi AA card. Can they get the free baggage using an AU card. Should I create a AA record locator for them? Should I put on their AAdavantage number or mine (ie. the one on the AU card)? Thanks!
I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.

i bought tickets recently using avios. i followed the link to get the aa benefits using avios. my aa ffn is attached to the itinerary and all is well, sort of. when i look online at baggage information it says they are experiencing difficulty at this time. it's been saying that for the past 3 weeks. any cause to be concerned or just proceed as normal (and bring the aa cc along)?

I accidentaly 1st put in their AA numbers for the departure flight. For the return I put in mine. I was not able to change the departure reservation to my AA number through the Finnair website. If anyone has any advice they are traveling on Sunday. Thanks.

I booked AA flight with Alaskan and came to checking in they told me it's $25 for my luggage. I paid with my AA citi card since hadn't known about this benefit yet. Any way to claim the $25?

Contact customer relations. They should refund you plus maybe give you something extra as a courtesy  ;)

Called Citi twice and the reps didn't know the answer to this either, but one rep promised to keep an eye on the account during my travel time and refund the charge if AA decides to charge for it.

Possibly, which is why i specified. Could also be different if adding infant to the ticket at time of booking, or adding infant in the airport.

So according to the AA check in agent, a lap child wouldn't count as a companion while flying domestic and therefore get an additional free checked bag (He did say that international does get you an extra bag).

We only had a car seat for our lap child - which was free to check besides for the stroller that we gate checked - so I didn't actually test it.

I tried putting in my AA number on Finnair site, but it does not let me enter the FF field at all? Can I do teh same thing on a different Oneworls airline? Or any other solution?
