Are you sure , the waters always dark after shabbos but I never thought about it. I guess what your saying makes sense but do you have a Source? If this is true I'm done with the bags.

If the water is not clear after shabbos, it means that chemical plastics are seeping into your cholent. Even if the bag is not totally melted.
Lol.

These bags are called cooking bags for a reason.  They're want for cooking  with.  They have all types of safety certifications.

Not sure if this was mentioned, but we use parchment paper to line the pot. No major cleaning and no melted plastic in the cholent. Its cheap also!
Parchment is able to handle such high temperature liquid heat?

Your cholent doesn't at all taste like parchament paper?

a. Fact is that the water is discolored because of seepage. Its not dangerous, but you are consuming plastic. I guess its a matter of taste.
b. Parchment/baking paper is designed for baking at over 450 degrees. Since paper never melts, (it can only burn), there is no risk of melting. Besides, I would imagine that paper is made of more natural materials than plastic...

That doesn't mean there are no chemicals. It just means that as of now there is no major known danger in consuming them to the extent that it would be illegal. BPA free is a recent thing.

What certifications does it have? Does it say them on the box? I don't remember seeing any.

If your cholent burns, you gotta learn how to make it! I've used all kinds of crockpots and never had the issue. Right now we are using magic mill (Jewish company?) And very happy with it.

Retired FDA officials  work as special advisors and lobbyist to/for the pharmaceutical and food industries.
I'm never  sure I should take FDA's word as it's the emes truth.
Could be wrong about ingesting a fine side dish of melting plastics to go along with that tasty cholent.

that only means that the type of plastic is approved for food use, not more.

FYI, I would have no issue using them, DW does.

I used to use them, after seeing scientific evidence of melting/seepage (brown water underneath,) I got grossed out. Parchment paper works fine though..
