I actually dont have to hard of a problem cleaning it after shabbos, letting it soak in soapy water works fine for me ... But I have heard, (and have done it) that - put the whole chulent pot in the fridge for a few hours, then everything will come out with ease

We don't like to use plastic because of the toxins in the plastic.

Any ideas of cockpits that don't stick ?

My wife sprays the crockpot with Pam or something like that before she adds anything and the cholent almost always comes right off

Try measuring it accurately i can assure you there is a slight angle, if there wouldn't be your insert would have a very difficult time getting in and out (unless the insert is significantly smaller in which case you have the gap anyways)

I need a good crock pot for chulent. I bought a new one and even on a low setting it burns. Any suggestions?

Personally, I find that the insert crock pots burn less. I got mine from costco and my chulent never burns.

Not sure if this was mentioned, but we use parchment paper to line the pot. No major cleaning and no melted plastic in the cholent. Its cheap also!

I use the chulent bags and have no problem with plastic melting in my chulent. I actually think that the bags can help with the burning also as you are supposed to put a cup of water in between the bag and the crock pot.

If the water is not clear after shabbos, it means that chemical plastics are seeping into your cholent. Even if the bag is not totally melted.
