Question:

Can you sell a Jew a plane ticket for shabbos flying?

Note: not asking if it's ethical or not, just plain Halacha and source.

Thanks!

It would fall under the D'orayso of lifnei ivair, Misayea lidvar aveiro.

IIRC The possible heter might be if he can or will purchase it anyways through a different source, it may possibly be okay.

What did you ask?

(not on forum), and its very problematic.

again, what?

I don't understand why if the guy memayle travels shabbos, its an issue, just because its still gromo...

it's an issue because it's gromo? or it shouldn't be an issue because it's only gromo? or it shouldn't be an issue because the guy memayle travels but it still is an issue because it's gromo? or gromo shouldn't be an issue? etc;....
I would love to understand what you are trying to say.

Asked WhyAich's question.

I find it should be less than a gromo as he's taking a ticket anyways on shabbes.

Thanks for clarifying. Did the rov say it's assur because it's gromo?

I theoreticaly agree with you. There is a certain heter like that, i just can't seem to remember what it's called right now.

Good point, I was thinking about some flights where in mid air a person would have shabbos (starting and ending while in the air).

If lidvar mitsva it shouldn't be an issue I believe, however, one is only allowed to have 1 shabbos a week.

I believe Rashi (Possibly Shitas amoramim) hold there is no issur of tchum if you're moving. There are heterim, and bshas hadchak or hefsed a competent rav should be contacted

contacted and because of many parts of the situation and hefsed merubah ;) etc etc. it was permitted to follow though.
:)

This is not a general psak but was very much connected to this specific case.

Actually I beleive that halocho l'maaseh it's mutar, it comes into play when leaving austarlia motzei shabbos. mid air one passes through the dateline and it is actually shabbos for a few hours or so.
