Uhhh......What is the while concept of hefsed meruba??? It's not permitted, meaning it's assur, but in hefsed meruba it's ok.

I know that reb Moishe writes about a bus (where one does not need to pay), is only bedi'eved allowed.

@whyaich: I'm starting to like your Rabbi.
He's actually not my rabbi. Mine wasn't available. I called one who told me its probably ok but to ask another. I called another one and he said to ask a third rov. And then this rov gave to green light :)

I want to preface that I had no idea it was a problem. Not that I had no Idea that it's problematic, but rather, I thought my boss dealt with this issue in the past and therefore spoke to a Rov and it's ok. When I asked him about it passingly he was like I never get those, either they are goyim or I push them off. So I came into the situation b'di'eved also.

I wouldn't do it in the future as L'chatchila.

A FREILECHEN and kosher pesach!

i'm not anyones rabbi but wouldn't that have to fall under תרי עברי דנהרא
There is no other way to get an airplane ticket? I knew whyaich is good, but that good?
One major question to answer is what would he do if you don't sell him the ticket?
Buy elsewhere at whatever price or stay home? I have had people tell me that its too expensive/not good times, so maybe...

If he buys it from you as opposed to the treif deli next to your office, why not?

That wasn't his question. He said how does hefsed merubah help.
The answer is: what is the whole hefsed merubah concept in the first place. It's saying usually not aloowed but here well let it pass because A. It's hefsed merubah and B. it's only such and such and C. etc. etc.

The story here is that they were traveling regardless.

How about sending a yid an email when your almost positive that they'll open it on Shabbos? (it's always happened in the past, based on their replies to my emails).

Hefsed Merubah is not a blanket heter. If one's house and business is burning down on shabbos one may not put out the fire (unless of course if it's pikuach nefesh, although one may pour water around the fire and not directly on to it) even though it's hefsed merubah.

I know it's not blanket. That's why I mentioned there were other factors etc

I knew he was Jewish.

But again this was a very specific situation and not a general statement

You are not allowed to cause a Yid to be Mechallel Shabbos.

Very serious issue.

See this past Shabbos's Hiskashrus where it discusses inviting someone for shabbos if you know he will drive etc.

We are all aware of this. However, it is clear that WhyAich asked a competent posek who was meikil for reasons specific to the case. I think a person has a right (if not a responsibility) to listen to his posek.

Who was this "competent posek"? And what is the mokor in Shulchon Oruch for this "so called heter"?

Where in the Shulchan Oruch does it say there's לפני עוור when its not
תרי עברא דנהרא?

if it's not lifnei Eiver, what's the problem with:
arranging for him to travel on Shabbos.
