Sure but its a schlepp..

they have full control over your rental so if they dont like your face they can say that you dont qualify and they dont want to give you anything. it would only make sense they should have a car guaranteed for you even if they cancel the reservation but if they are mamzeirim they have the right to do whatever they want. if you are afraid they will make problems then have a backup reservation.
if something happenes and you dont think its right call CS and ask them bec. they can easaly sell you a boat.

Youd have to really, really, really piss them off for them to guess that you have another reservation, look for it, cancel it, and notify the other HLE not to honor it.

Are you sure that they can't pull up ALL your Hertz reservations by just typing in your name? I know for a fact that they can pull up all your reservations in their branch, that means that probably all your reservations globally as well..

Small correction: Why would the have to notify the other branch if they already canceled it?

I guess they can sit at the computer and block every new reservation u make. Heck, maybe they can even blacklist u for it. That happens to be more likely btw.

I have no idea how they pull reservations, but you can always change a letter in your name etc to block it from appearing in a search. Also probably the franchise HLE's don't have access to the global hertz system.

OP here, just want to give a little update following up on the OP story:
I called Hertz billing department and withing 30 seconds, no questions asked the rep adjusted $43.16 back to my card. This was early this week, the credit is already reflected on my CC.
This way it came out about $20 cheaper than what I originally was going to pay!

Once rented at ORD...agent was kind of rude and was just like here are the keys and just walked away...was kind of confused and asked for the manager who came running out and comped the whole bill on the spot.

I made a reservation for a Midsize in CLE ... (I made a reservation by Avis and by Hertz, I'm Pres Club with both... The Avis reservation was a few dollars more, but I overall had really good experience with avis, so) I went to the Avis counter and asked the Rep if my car is ready (I always do that, eve though I know my car is waiting for me but I want the opportunity to get a different car) They guy said yea, I asked what, he said a Toyota Corolla I was pissed, as I always get a nice car cuz I'm Pres Club...

I said I'm a Pres Club member and this is what you are giving me???   

End of story - he modified the res, and gave me a Maxima!!

This is not my worst experience, possibly the strangest though...

I once had a car from Enterprise in Brooklyn, from the Utica & Kings Highway location, and they called me and asked to come in and switch the car because they had sold it!
I don't remember exactly what happened in the end, it must have been at least 8 years ago...
