IIRC that was the guy who advertized in all the circulars about the 100k MR Amex signup bonus matching...
Why would AA be involved in that? If anyone would care it would be Amex.

The guy was probably rolling in MR points, so AA might assume he's a mileage broker?

How would AA know that he's rolling in MR?

A possible theory would be that he ordered hundreds of AA gc's from his IP/email, so they suspect him of fraud.

(He helped his customers cash out the credit)

I'm pretty sure he even applied for many of the customers himself. He just asked for the necessary information and did it all.

but tht still doesn't explain y aa should care , they where paid in full for all the gc's , amex was the one reimbursing all the purchases, so if anything amex should b on top of  it for all who exploited there promo of flight incidentals

And whts even more funny,  is the fact tht this thread is up quite a while and ppl keep adding input from wht they heard or saw on the subpoenas, and yet no one posted a copy or at least a link to the subpoena

It was attached to the subpoena that was sent out.

Ok I'll agree I used the wrong word saying funny,  but on the question y it's necessary, I have 2 answers 1. Y is the whole thread discussion about the subpoenas necessary,  - the word necessary isn't right ppl r curious and ppl want to know which avenues r dangerous to cross,  we all here on ddf exploit various programs and promotions , and we discuss the risks of some of them, and the benefits of the others, so it could b NECESSARY to know wht was done, and know not to do it
2. Some of us here for instance sold to amexoffers @Gmail and shared info with him or asked him specific questions on how to order cards from aa and how to fool amex on thinking it's for flight (by ordering gc's less then 100$ etc)  so naturally they want to follow such a case by seeing subpoenas, by seeing the filings, the verdict ,...
And I find it somewhat interesting tht between such a professional crowd on ddf that have the knowhow to dig up all kind of promos , and all kinds of ways to work around with  the promos and yet no one tht saw the subpoenas had the extra minute to post original court documents

Because there is nothing to be gained from it other than revealing around 200 people's email addresses.
It does not give any reason why AA is asking for this information.

isn't it more likely due to new laws n NJ re: GCs? (isn't amex stopping NJ GC?)

I thought it had to do with compliance of abandoned property , or just red tape and was not worth the expense -- can not believe a large corp would stop doing biz because of fraud in one state
