I opened a new BA FFN and applied with it for a 2nd BA card (I closed my first one several months ago) and they sent me the card with my original FFN on it. About a week later I got a letter that I will not be receiving the bonus since I have already had the card in the past 24 months. Did I do anything wrong? Is there anything I can do now?

I opened the BA card in early September and already had one statement close on 9/20. There was no annual fee on it. I didn't do the full $2,000 spending as of the first statement close date though I've since completed the spending. There hasn't been an annual fee post to the account since the statement close date either.

Do they charge the annual fee when I hit the bonus? I've never had a card with a fee in the first year but I assumed I'd be charged the annual fee on the first statement. What is everyone else's experience with this card?

I did the same thing and they found my original FFN as well. However I did get the bonus (and did not get any letters saying I wouldnt), so perhaps it was more than 24 months since my original bonus. This was in July IIRC.

My (first) statement should be closing any day now, though I did the spending already.
Upon calling chase the rep told me she sees the points were already issued though it might take from a few days to 6/8 weeks to get it.
Can I close my card now (in order to get another app approved) or I'll never get the points if it's closed?

Have you seen the annual fee post yet?

I wouldn't risk it. But of your points are already issued, most probably they will show on this statement

Tnx again, the due was supposed to be on the 1st (again it's the first statement) so I asked them to move it back so that the statement closing date should be today (due date would be moved back to some 10 days ago), she said she'll do it (even for this month) though I haven't seen it being reflected yet online.

Anyone with experience on when the annual fee typically posts on this card?

Weird that they didn't charge me the fee on the first statement. But I'm certainly not going to complain.

Getting the points & closing the card before AF hits is totally ok or not so much?

AF posted, and even says on statement 52k points transferred to ba but it didn't post yet on ba.com.
Is it safe to close the card now or still not?

Do I have to first pay the af and after I cancel I'll get it back?
Or I just don't pay in the first place?

Pay it, then cancel. The refund amount will show up in your online profile and then you can call and request that they send you a check.

I would wait 2 days til it posts in your BA account... Why you in such a rush to close it?

Because I want to leverage the closing of this card for them approving me for another card today is 30 days from application, they're claiming the 2 cards in 30 day rule unless I'm willing to close a card opened in the last 30 days.
