An old BA of mine that I milked for 100k just came up for its annual $95 fee. I don't use it all.
Do I call to cancel the card?
Do I consolidate?
Do I downgrade for a no fee?

Just to clarify, Ergel means a different Chase card, not a new BA card.

I know this sounds funny but with all the recent scares regarding chase A/A,
Does it make sense to not only consolidate the old BA but to actually not take the full CL.
Presently I have way more CL than I could ever think of using.

UNITED-5
HYATT-15
SW-5
FREEEDOM-15

My wife also prob has about 20 total.
Household income about 140

I was referring to the offer in this thread that you get another 50K after having the card for 1 year. So I'd pay $75 now and get 50K, then in 1 year I'd get 50K and cancel in time to get the 2nd fee refunded. As opposed to the regular BA offer where I'd get 50K upfront and then cancel to get the initial fee refunded.

or you can look at it as 50K for free / 100K for $75.

well then i guess it is

the real qustion is if someone will be making 20k of spending on this card anyways in the next year then it's $95 vs. $150 for the same 100k and you may get the 100k significantly faster, but there still is the difference of the value of 20k BA points and 20K starwood or 20k UR (where you could have done the spend). Also i don't think most DDF members have an easy 20k to spend that they don't need for other cc spends!

I'm pretty confident that you'd be able to switch if you so desired but I haven't heard from anyone who has tried.
