On the main site Dan mentioned that if you want to save fees you can transfer to Iberia, but have to first transfer from MR. Was there ever an "option" to having your IB account open for 3(6?) months in order to get transfers from BA? I thought i recall seeing that a while back.

I would like to apply for this card.  I have a Chase United card that I would like to close/downgrade since the annual fee is coming up. Is there a way to transfer the United Credit line to this new BA card, and get the BA bonus?

Apply first. If you get declined, use the old card as leverage.

I cancelled my BA cards about two years ago. Can I still get the new card bonuses? If yes do I use my old membership number when applying?

I believe it is better to re-apply without using your old number.

Well that is just the thing, lets say I dont get denied.  Then I will just have to cancel my United card, I was trying to avoid that.

You can always transfer the credit line into your new card.

ETA: You can also call and ask for a retention bonus.

why are you trying to avoid that, if you don't want to pay AF and you get approved for the BA then just transfer the CL and close it

Wouldn't that be considered as closing the card?  basically, I know it is not the best thing for your credit report to close a card.  So how could I get around closing the United card?

How does that work?  Call them up and say  I don't want to pay the annual fee?  Doesn't that sound bad?

There is a whole thread about this. Briefly, you can say that you are thinking about canceling because of the AF, is there any retention offers available to me for keeping the card open. Based on what they offer, you will know how to proceed.

the only thing thats not good for your credit is losing the Credit line ... so if you are able to move all of it (wee almost all of it) over to the British ... it doesnt make a difference on your credit report if you cancel.... (unless the card is like 20 years old or something... then maybe it will affect your credit ten years from now)
Pleas hold. Your call will be answered in the order it was received.

I just signed up for the card today.

Does anyone know if I can still ask for the 50K anniversary bonus or is that long gone?
