From what was posted previously it looks like the filter is DNS advantage. This makes sense considering that the issue is on all computers. Changing the DNS would therefore be disabling the filter. Some filters do fillet out grew email services as social sites. It is most likely a setting on the filter account.

What anti virus are you using?

The filter is the one that came with my Belkin router and the AV is Norton.

Do you have access to the filter settings? If yes then white list mail.google.com.
Do you specifically want this filter?
Changing the DNS should be fairly easy to find in the router settings. Changing it will disable the filter though.

I once had issues that my Kaspersky anti virus made issues with gmail. Don't remember what I did, but it was easy to find on google.

OK So I changed the DNS to 8.8.8.8 and that seems to work.
BTW It wasn't only gmail that was blocked, I noticed that Vimeo was also as well as Eichlers.com $:-\$

vimeo and eichlers make sense. Most filters will block video sharing sites and religious sites. Be aware that you are now unfiltered

It was ony set to block malicious and adult sites. I never had such problems until yesterday

Not so familiar with that filter, but reseting the categories may help. You can also switch to a different DNS based filter like open DNS

And also be aware how easy it was that I showed you how to unblock your filter.

If you continue to use a router based DNS filter, ensure that you have someone set up some firewall rulea to only allow traffic through your filter's DNS. This will prevent someone from bypassing the filter, as we just did.

you can also have a password to the router settings that only someone else knows, although a full reset of the router would still do it.

Still no replacement for yiras shomayim

But a pw for the router would not help here. I had him change the DNS on his computer. Technically, having a user account without admin rights would do the trick. But 1) that is not always feasable; and 2) not too hard to get around.
