US Customs/Border Patrol Questions Master Thread
« on: April 17, 2012, 09:09:09 PM »
I'm sure with everyone traveling, there are such questions. I'll start...

When traveling YVR-LAX, you undergo US Customs preclearance in YVR before boarding...so you can't bring items onto your flight that you couldn't bring into the US were you to clear customs upon arrival.

So, in theory, could someone buy a falafel in Canada and take it onto their flight?

I called the US Customs desk at YVR and the Agent told me that I could bring a deli sandwich but not necessarily with slices of tomato - though you still must declare it.

So how does one find out the real story and where to draw the line?

On the CBP website, it lists condiments as an acceptable item...so would tomato dip be ok but not plain slices?  ???

I'm NOT looking for how to get around with shtick or how you did, but what is the law/procedure?

TIA
