how to scan and develop photos?
« on: April 18, 2012, 07:01:26 PM »
I have some 4X6 photos that I want to save as jpeg and develop online, anyone know how to do it? I have a regular copy/fax/scanner but when I scan it the photo only comes out as a quarter of the page, how can I scan the actual size of the photo to develop?
Any good programs for this out there?
Thanks

When u start scanning and the software is previewing the picture, make sure u drag the selection all the way around the picture... if u use a mac, simply use image capture to do that. for windows, i guess the printer's software would do...

Ok thanks, so looks like I have to actually preview the picture, if its not previewed it recognizes the scan as a full page. Interesting.

Yes if you dont preview, the software is going to go with its best guess as to the size of the pic... which is most of the time wrong...

IME the best way to reprint 4x6 photos is at a store kiosk, very often they don't come out good when you scan them yourself.

Which store kiosks have this? I didnt find. I went in to a photo store and he told me he scans it too, so I decided to do it myself!

I've scanned many 4x6 photos and almost all the ones I printed came out good.

I think walmart, rite aid and CVS all have Kodak or Fuji kiosks with scanners.
