Disputing a flight on chase sp
« on: April 21, 2012, 10:29:40 PM »
I booked a friend of mine with my avios and ba didn't issue an e-ticket so I logged into aa and added the passenger details (birthday and gender) thinking that it would be enough turns out it's not and when I got to the airport and they told me that I called ba who proceeded to put me on hold till about 5 minutes before scheduled departure at which point I gave up and bought my friend a ticket for 500$ I was talking to a friend of mine who recommended I dispute the charge due to the fact that I have email confirmation from ba and the ticket lady told me she can see something under the name but it's just a reservation not a ticket or something like that I was wondering if anybody has any experience disputing a charge from chase sp or any advice on the matter cause 500$ is a little steep for a 1 way from ny to fl
note to mods I wasn't sure were it belongs move it to cc if you want

I booked a friend of mine with my avios and ba didn't issue an e-ticket.
I logged into aa and added the passenger details (birthday and gender) thinking that it would be enough.
Turns out it's not, and when I got to the airport, they (AA) told me that.
I called ba who proceeded to put me on hold till about 5 minutes before scheduled departure, at which point I gave up and bought my friend a ticket for $500.
I was talking to a friend of mine, who recommended I dispute the charge, due to the fact that I have email confirmation from ba, and the ticket lady told me she can see something under the name, but it's just a reservation not a ticket or something like that.

I was wondering if anybody has any experience disputing a charge from chase sp, or any advice on the matter, cause 500$ is a little steep for a 1 way from ny to fl.

note to mods I wasn't sure where it belongs move it to cc if you want
1. Fixed it for you.
2. While I understand your frustration here, you only real claim might be against BA, not AA.

I'm assuming you bought the ticket off of AA, and as such, it doesn't seem that you have a right to deny the charge.  If you bought it from BA as a codeshare, then there is what to discuss...

If you were doing this for biz purposes (ie, selling your miles), I'd tread carefully. You don't want them asking too many questions that you cant answer.

Doesn't mean you can't write a letter to BA asking to be compensated.

The credit card company does not (usually) pay when a charge is disputed; the merchant does.

I Did not sell the miles I was actually  at the ticket counter with my friend when I purchased the ticket,
but me and British Airways are not getting along in general as I'm pretty sure that account has a negative balance, do you think that will affect there decision whether they pay me or not?

Except you never actually booked the ticket, you just put it on hold.
Your issue is with BA for telling you that they booked it for you.

+1
BA and AA are two separate airlines.  Just bec your pissed off at one, doesn't mean you could take your money back from the other one.

I told it to chase exactly how it was they decided to refund me
they may have taken into account that I'm a pretty good customer with them and they don't want to lose me but I doubt it

It doesn't seem like you yourself understand what's going on, how could you have told chase the right story?!

I told them I booked a flight through BA and you can see the $2.50 charge for tax on my account and I have.   email confirmation but still AA wouldn't honor it they said
they see a reservation through BA but No ticket so they can't do anything for me
so I bought another ticket at the desk
 which I feel was unfair
they can take it or leave it and say that's not AA's fault although they'll probably call me back sometime this week to tell me AA told them it's BA's problem not theirs but for now they have credited me my money back I'm not sure what the big deal is

just realized what you were saying
No I actually booked I just didn't enter the birthday.and gender of the passenger( because they didn't ask)  on the BA site when I booked the ticket but I really booked it and they sent me email confirmation telling me they issued a e-ticket
