Looking for a ticket to TLV on UA in the summer, prices have really gone up. In checking Citi's TY Companion I noticed that it gave me a choice to go by train to EWR on UA. For some dates leaving from the Philly 30th street lops off hundreds from the price of the non-stop flight, to about $1450. Last year it wouldnt be such a find, but this year I think its a good deal. You can enter ZFV as the airport and it gives you the options. (I searched for ZFV in the search box here but nothing came up so assume it hasnt been discussed)

When do you see it knock off so much?

And no it hasn't been discusses here, although I've seen it on FT.

just tried july4-18, 1460 from zfv or 1650 from ewr.

do i need to take the trip from zfv to ewr. its a train station flights are much cheaper from there. or is it like phl that if i miss it my ticket will be canceled

Amtrak doesnt scan tickets IIRC

This has been discussed ad nauseum on FT. Bottom line is I wouldn't take the risk on ZFV-EWR-TLV. XXX-EWR-ZFV is another story.

my flight is next week. when i call united they tell me if i skip it it will be a no show, but when i called the online travel agent(sears) they told me i dont have to go (this is after asking 2 supervisers). who should i believe? and does anybody have expirence with this?

You don't have to board the train.

Opinions vary if you have to print the ticket at an Amtrak Kiosk, but u can do it an Newark airport for sure.

IME ,No need to print ticket, just show up at Newark .

P.s. if they cancel the ticket, please don't come to me for reimbursement

I booked a ticket from Philly to Israel (meaning going with this train to NY first) with UA anyone with experience if I can just bypass this train service and just start from NY? United is saying that if I'm not using the train I loss my ticket anyone ever tried?

how do you know that? I would say you do have to be there if united clearly told you so.

Nobody checks who boards an Amtrak train.

You printed out the amtrak tickets before? (If its working i might be using it ones)
