yes, they upcharged me to what the fare from Newark would have been.  They said they were "nice" not to charge me the $200 change fee.

I couldn't access boarding pass on my phone or from kiosk.  Agent said I was like the fifth person to have this happen (not sure in what period of time).

Just did SAN-EWR-ZFV, skipping ZFV. Two points. I got my Amtrak boarding pass in SAN. Also in big bold letters it said Amtrak check in required. Not sure if it was always like this.

Took an emergency flight  from MSP-EWR-ZFV, checking a bag I was slightly worried they would check it all the way through, but they don't.
I received a piece of paper with various  instructions and one of them said:

1) "Checked bags must be claimed at EWR."

The flight price difference was over $500.00!!!

So whats the consensus here. Did anything change lately? Can they get the Amtrak ticket in NY and not tale the train?
You may not hold me responsible for any actions taken that were recommended from my account or username.

Anyone? Also, can you take another amtrak same day? Eg., can I fly from ZFV and board at Newark, but return same day to PHL and take an amtrak to EWR?

Looking to do the same thing - ZFV - EWR - FLL

Did you ever get a response on this? Did you try it?

Thanks!

IIRC you need to print the tickets for the flight not to be canceled.
IINM you can go to Penn Station in NYC 24 hours before the scheduled train departure time to print your ticket.

I happened to discover ZFV while looking for tickets from CLE to EWR this coming up Tues. CLE-EWR-ZFV saved me around 500 on 3 tickets. Best hidden city ever as we are checking luggage! As I am not starting there but rather ending I don't see much risk here.

Any recent success stories? FT indicated that you HAVE to print out your Amtrak BP for your ticket not to be canceled. Mixed reports whether you can get the BP elsewhere and get it scanned.
You can say what you think when you think what you say.

looking to book lax-zfv and need to end up in phl. want to board an earlier amtrak train leaving from ewr than shown on ticket. for some reason its only giving me a train that is 90+ mins after landing. im not checking bags so dont see any reason why i can't make an earlier one. any news if amtrak will honor ticket if i board an earlier train?
