Kayak not accurate

Many times when I search flights on Kayak and then select the flight the actual price is way off from what kayak quoted me. Sometimes I get a message that the price has changed and other times nothing. Have other people noticed this, and what would you say the flight search engine of choice is.

Yes happens all the time!

Not saying this is a good search engine but many times vayama charges less than other sites.

i had the same issue when i was searching on LAN brazil site i found a special offer then went on kayak it quoted me the same price from lan.com, when i clicked on it i was directed to the US site of lan and it was more expensive then what it showed on kayak.
My guess is it finds a offer but when you click on the site it goes to the US homepage you would have to search that page to find the right offer sometimes the offer isnt on the US part of the site

The only one that actually has the fare is vayama, never used or heard of them before, is that reliable like travelocity and orbitz? Is there a one day cancellation on vayama like on orbitz?

I never found it cheaper, and did have it on both international flights (in Brazil too)  as well as many times domestic US.

Vayama is reliable. Don't know about free cancellation though.

im not saying its only on international, it can be a special offer for a domestic flight as well IME it means the price is there somewhere, just requires lots of searching

Sorry to go OT but do you know if it earns miles? The ticket is about $300 less than other sites so there must be some catch.

I think that the way kayak checks inventory in not correct.

They don't actually look if it's really available so they are quoting a price for a lower class and it's not really available.

A common airline to have this issue is with Al Italia.

I have noticed that Kayak is often not accurate. I often search for tickets to Israel and when I click on the low fare kayak has posted, it is not available for the price Kayak quotes.  This is especially true for the very low fares and the lowest fares you see on their month / fare / calendar...

im trying to book a flight for someone from SCL to EZE, on kayak US it quotes me $249 with LAN airlines, on kayak brazil site it quotes me $387 brazilian reals which is about U$D115 and when i click on the link it sends me to the same LAN website again for $249 dollars.
there must be a offer somewhere for $115 but not sure where kayak brazil is finding it.
