If I would be signing all my cards, my hand would hurt The only guy that made me sign was the frum guy that works at the post office and it was only for like a dollar.
Ans signing it on the spot would've been fine for them?
I don't sign my card as I feel that if it gets lost or stolen then the person who has the card also has my signature and would be able to copy it on receipts...
and i thought the exact opposite. If it gets stolen and its not signed, the thief will sign it in his own handwriting, and when he uses it his signature on the receipt will match perfectly!
Sure, but then when the charge is disputed if they request the receipt from the store they will see its very obviously not your signature, whereas if the card was signed the signature could match your signature perfectly...
How would they know if it was your signature? They have nothing to compare it to.ETA: For everyone that does not sign their CC you might to flip it over and see what it says under the signature space.
I was always aware of that. And yet it still works
That would be a good one for the ethics thread.

its not really extra protection imo since it has your name in front and since no one checks the signatures anyways they can always make up what your signature would look like
Not on Amex
True. But stores are supposed to check the card... so if they didn't it is their fault if they accepted a CC that wasn't signed that was stolen
