I'm trying to summarize success stories mentioned in this thread.
From @TC610
It never hurts to ask - retention is a big YMMV.  If you don't like the offer given to you when you call for retention, ask for a better one.  Scan through the thread (use the search bar - reading through 130+ pages of posts can be time consuming) to see what others have been offered. Please post what you've got if its better then whats in the WIKI

Have a united card and ink bold which I spent roughly 75 k combined should apply for new ones or request the 2 nd year be waived , are my chances of getting it waived as well as points higher since I do charge a lot on the cards

Keep getting denied on the Sapphire pref any retention. They keep on saying to switch to non preferred. Issue is I need to transfer out points next week and don't want to close it.

Has anyone had luck getting their Chase Sapphire Preferred Annual Fee taken off? (second year having card, first annual fee)

How did you go about it?

Thanks!

I had the same issue. I ended up keeping mine open and closing my wife's. I dont know if they're getting more strict lately or if they see that I keep calling for retention bonuses on all my chase cards. I tried HUCA about ten times over two weeks and it didnt work.

Not sooo easy to churn with chase IMO (at least in my case). Had some apps I just couldn't push thru as I had "too many recent accounts opened". This card is a great card to hold onto...

Tried CSP 5x in the past 2 weeks.  No dice..closing my visa (which I've had for 2 years), already have the MC which I will keep open and use the CSP Visa in my next churn to earn 40K miles.

Just called to cancel my Plat. Rep didn't offer any retention but tried to push me to get the PRG after I mentioned the lack of category bonuses on the Plat. I asked if I'd get the bonus on the PRG but the rep said no because it wouldn't be a new account. I said I'll keep the card for now... I'll try again next week.
Denied again. I'm just going to close it.

AFAIK, you cannot transfer a charge card's "credit line." You can, however, use the card as leverage to get another card approved.

Personally, i would apply for other cards (IP, etc...) and if need be use the IB as leverage. Then reapply for IB sometime down the road. But i don't know your personal needs, so just sayin'.

+1  i called twice and nothing doing.
i have spent almost 20k in the year so u would think...
the second time the guy told me  - u just got 5,000 points from dividend rewards that should offset ur fee.
thing is, i spent $10,000 since feb. the 7% is not worth it to keep it open, but i would like to get it open. more huca?

also, if my husband has an ink bold business (and i just applied for one), i can switch my points thru those cards if i downgrade the sapphire, right?
